Arsenal are reportedly ‘in talks’ over a move for Southampton centre-back, Virgil van Dijk, over the summer.

  • Arsenal and City lead race to sign Van Dijk
  • Centre-back’s been sidelined since January
  • Southampton keen to cash in on £50m international

Van Dijk only joined Southampton from Celtic in 2015 for a reported £13m and he’s already got the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City after his signature.

In fact, while City were said to have the edge over the other Premier League teams, according to the Daily Star, the 25-year-old has reportedly already spoken to Arsenal as well, with both clubs apparently willing to pay the £50m that Southampton are asking for.

The Saints are allegedly keen to cash in on the Dutch intentional before his value decreases as he’s not played since January after suffering injuring his ankle against Leicester.

Before that, however, he was a huge part of the Southampton’s starting XI, making 30 appearances and scoring four goals.

Van Dijk’s current deal runs out in 2022.
