Arsenal are reportedly prepared to compete with Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City for Stoke City goalkeeper, Jack Butland.

  • Butland has only made four appearances for Stoke this season due to injury
  • Previously spoke about admiration for Petr Cech
  • Young goalkeeper recently brushed off Arsenal links
  • Arsenal want him as Cech replacement
  • Chelsea, United and City all keen

Butland has only played four times for the Potters this season after suffering an injury while away on England duty a year ago.

While he’s shipped eight goals in that short time, four of which were against Arsenal, last season he kept 10 clean sheets in 31 Premier League appearances.

Despite the 24-year-old laughing off reports that the Gunners could genuinely be interested in signing him in order to replace 34-year-old Petr Cech back in March, the Daily Star still claims that Arsenal, Chelsea and both Manchester teams are keeping an eye on him.

“That’s football,” Butland said.

“It’s not anywhere near the transfer window yet, but that’s the way papers work.”

This report comes after Wenger said that the only place Arsenal don’t need to strengthen is in goal, seeing as Wojciech Szczesny is returning from his two years on loan at Roma.

However, David Ospina recently admitted that he’s informed Arsenal he’s leaving this summer having allegedly agreed personal terms with Turkish club, Fenerbahce.

Maybe there will be room for Butland after all?
