With the nation’s security threat placed at critical, Arsenal have cancelled the screening of the FA Cup final at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, and the London club won’t hold a victory parade if the win the trophy.

Arsenal Football Club had planned to show the FA Cup final at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday for supporters who were unable to get a ticket to Wembley. The Gunners were also going to hold a victory parade as per usual if they triumphed against Chelsea.

But the club CEO revealed the reasons why they’ve made a reluctant U-turn. “As always, the safety of our supporters and staff is paramount and we are in close contact with security services.

“After taking their advice we have reluctantly taken the decision to cancel the screening and potential parade,” said Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis, as reported by the Daily Mail.

In the wake of the Manchester terror attacks which saw more than 20 people dead and four times as many people injured, Arsenal were keen not to put extra pressure on the police and security officials this weekend. Fans who have tickets to Saturday’s FA Cup final Wembley are being told to arrive early as there are addition security measures in place.
