OGC Nice midfielder, Jean-Michaël Seri, is expected to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer and reports have suggested a transfer fee of €40m will persuade Lucien Favre to part with the 25-year-old.

We reported last week that the player wanted guarantees about regular minutes and wouldn’t just leave Nice to be content on the bench.

Now it seems there are more interested clubs exploring the possibility of a move for him after the current campaign is complete. Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have reportedly joined the race to sign him, along with our Premier League counterparts Everton and Southampton.

Interest in Seri’s services are high and understandably so.

He has played a pivotal role in helping them qualify for UEFA Champions League football next season and it’s unlikely that he’d want to move somewhere which doesn’t offer him a chance to play among Europe’s elite.

Six goals and nine assists in Ligue 1 this term are an impressive tally for a central midfielder, not least a versatile one who can play in a deeper role and still create chances.

Release clauses are forbidden in France but a report from the Ivory Coast has suggested that his representative and Nice themselves have agreed that €40m is a fair valuation for teams to match, in order to acquire his services.

£33.6m is a lot of money to spend but if Arsenal are serious about signing Seri, they need to act quickly to avoid being second best once more in the transfer market.
