OTD Arsenal win the league at White Hart Lane

On 25 April 2004, Arsenal’s Invincibles won the Premier League at White Hart Lane after going an entire season unbeaten.

Arsenal knew that statistically all they needed was a draw in the North London Derby to secure the Premier League title over Chelsea.

The Gunners got off to the perfect start, going 1-0 ahead in the third minute through Patrick Vieira and doubling their lead through Robert Pirez before half time.

Spurs came back with a goal from Jamie Redknapp and a penalty slotted home by Robbie Keane, which was conceded by Jens Lehmann in the 94th minute. The German was so disappointed that he wouldn’t return to the pitch to celebrate despite his team just winning the title at their biggest rival’s home ground.

The match was Arsenal’s 34th unbeaten and they failed to lose during their four remaining league games, winning the title comfortably, and going down in history as the Invincibles.
