Looking ahead to Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City, Mesut Ozil says he’s desperate to win the trophy again.

  • Arsenal have won the FA Cup 12 times – joint top with Manchester United
  • Arsene Wenger has won the FA Cup 6 times
  • Ozil has never lost at Wembley under Wenger
  • Says City are desperate for win but so are Gunners

During Ozil’s first season with Arsenal, the Gunners won the FA Cup for the first time since 2005. Then they won it again the following year.

With the arrival of the German playmaker, a club that hadn’t won any silverware in almost a decade, finally won something.

Therefore, it’s not exactly surprising that Ozil holds the FA Cup pretty close to his heart and claims that both he and Arsenal are desperate to win it again.

“You’re always hungry for titles,” the 28-year-old told Arsenal Player.

“We’re out of the Champions League and it will be very hard to win the title.

“We can only really get this one trophy and we must give everything to do it.

“I hope we can take the next step against City and get into the final.

“It will be difficult because they want the same – they’re desperate to win the FA Cup, just as we are.”

If Arsenal manage to win the FA Cup this year despite their disastrous season, it’ll be their 13th – more than any other club, including Manchester United.

What’s more is Wenger will have won it for a seventh time, which is more than any manager in history.
