Manchester City’s £50m defender, John Stones, has been ruled out for the Blues’ FA Cup clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

  • Stones missed Southampton match with muscular problem
  • Still not fit to play
  • Guardiola insists he’ll be ready for Manchester Derby

Stones has been a regular starter for City since signing from Everton in the summer. He’s made a total of 40 appearances over all competitions and has even scored two goals.

However, Pep Guardiola has revealed that City will be without their key man when they face the Gunners at Wembley on Sunday as Stones isn’t fit.

The 22-year-old missed City’s 3-0 win over Southampton last weekend due to a “muscular problem” and although he’ll probably be able to play in the Manchester Derby on Thursday, the FA Cup on Sunday is a no-go.

“Stones is not fit. Muscular problem,” Pep said.

“He’s out but maybe he comes back for United.”

Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck is a doubt for Arsenal after he missed the Premier League trip to Middlesbrough on Monday with a toe injury. He’s back in training but might not be fit.

Shkodran Mustafi has also been ruled out.
