Did Arsene Wenger let slip that Arsenal have indeed been in talks over bringing Sead Kolasinac to north London? It certainly seemed like it at his press conference on Thursday.

  • Kolasinac available for free in summer
  • Heavily linked with Arsenal move, as well as AC Milan and Everton
  • Wenger says he can deny story ‘at the moment’
  • Goal.com claims player has completed medical and agreed personal terms

Sead Kolasinac has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the course of the last week. At first, a Bosnian outlet claimed that the deal was done, then his father denied it but confirmed that Arsenal, as well as AC Milan, were a possible destination for his son.

Goal are now reporting that Kolasinac has completed his medical and agreed personal terms with the Gunners. Apparently, while the defender was in London a couple of weeks ago for a sponsorship event, he also managed to squeeze in his Arsenal medical as well.

Before this new report from Goal.com was released, Wenger was quizzed about his pursuit of the left-back, who’s available on a free from Schalke in the summer, during his pre-Manchester City presser on Thursday morning.

When asked about whether the manager if he could reveal anything, Wenger said, “Nothing, no.

“We can deny that story at the moment. Nothing has been concluded…[long pause]… with anybody.”

A knowing smirk, which Arsenal fans have seen a couple of times before, then slowly crept onto the Frenchman’s face.

“I think it is important we do not talk about transfers.”

Wenger doesn’t actually deny it.

Rather than simply saying no and moving the press conference on, as he has done in the past, he says that nothing’s been concluded, which suggests pretty heavily that talks are going on but nothing’s been set in stone yet. I

f they’ve not started, how can they be concluded?

The fact that he also says that he can deny the story at the moment suggests that in the future, he won’t.

Plus, look at that smirk when he says he won’t talk about transfers at the moment and tell me he’s not cooking something up.

smug wenger

Given Goal.com’s report, Wenger’s reaction seems even funnier.
