Arsenal are reportedly targeting Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sven Bender once again.

Bender is one of a few possible candidates that Arsene Wenger is reportedly keeping a close eye on as he looks to employ another defender this summer

The 28-year-old German plays as a centreback, but is also capable of playing as a defensive or even central midfielder, a versatility that surely appeals to Wenger

This season hasn’t been one to remember for Bender, as he missed most of it through injury, making only four league appearances, six in total. Even more perfect for Arsenal, right?

He’s actually not usually injury prone and has has played a big part in the recent period of success at Borussia Dortmund, and is still seen as one of the key defensive players in the squad.

TransferMarketWeb are reporting that even though he’s had injury plagued season at the Westfalenstadion, Arsenal are still interested in a move for him.

According to them, Bender is valued at €8 million which could present a starting negotiating point for both clubs although it’s highly unlikely he would move for a fee as low as that, especially not as his contract runs until 2021.

Will Arsenal’s interest be enough for Bender to change his yellow shirt for red? That remains to be seen, as there has reportedly been interest from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, yet the experienced German decided to stay at Dortmund.

Bender is known for his steady performances with a good sense for timing a tackle and making interceptions.

In Bender, Arsenal would get an experienced defensive player that can cover all central roles The only potential problem is his injuries and how they affect him long-term.
