Alexis Sanchez close to Manchester City move – report

Despite Arsene Wenger claiming just days ago that Alexis Sanchez does want to stay at Arsenal, reports have emerged that the Chilean is ‘very close’ to a move to Manchester City.

The forward has been linked with Manchester United, Juventus, PSG, Inter and Chelsea. However, he’s reportedly set to snub all of these for a move to Pep Guardiola’s City.

According to Radio Cooperativa [via Metro], the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss is allegedly willing to meet the Chile international’s £50m transfer fee, and hand the player £200,000 a week in wages.

Meanwhile, Don Balon claims that Arsene Wenger is quite happy to let Alexis go after it appeared as if the star was laughing during Arsenal’s second humiliating 5-1 defeat to Bayern. Although the Frenchman was determined to keep Alexis, this was supposedly a turning point.

The reports, however, contradict what the manager said during his pre-Crystal Palace presser, in which he claimed that Alexis wants to stay at Arsenal, it’s just down to his agent.

“I believe that basically he wants to stay at the club and it’s down to finding an agreement with his agent,” Wenger said.

“I think the players first have to see are they are happy to the club and after (that) most of the time it’s down to finding an agreement, but the finances are involved in it, yes.”

Arsenal fans are pretty keen on keeping Alexis considering he’s been their stand-out player this season, scoring 18 and assisting 10 in the Premier League alone.
