Arsene Wenger’s ‘closest ally’ Boro Primorac is reportedly set to take charge of Turkish side, Konyaspor, at the end of this season.

Primorac was assistant coach of Japanese side Nagoya Grampus when Arsene Wenger was there and moved to Arsenal in 1997 after the Frenchman became manager. They’ve worked together for over 20 years and therefore Wenger allegedly considers the former Yugoslavia international as one of his closest allies.

The 62-year-old is now first team assistant coach at Arsenal so if he’s leaving, this raises further questions over Wenger’s future at the club.

If Wenger’s right-hand man is heading for the exit, it does imply that the boss could also be off when his contract runs out at the end of the season. However, it could just be a coincidence and Primorac might just want a change.

Just weeks ago, academy manager Andries Jonker left to manage Wolfsburg and the club are taking their time over finding his replacement.

Does this suggest an overhaul behind the scenes at the club? Only time will tell.
