Roberto Mancini has become the latest manager to talk about rumours linking him with the Arsenal job.

  • Former City manager is currently unemployed
  • He is one of a number of people linked with Arsenal
  • Arsene Wenger will sign a new two-year deal making all of this irrelevant

Arsene Wenger has made no announcement, although all signs point to him signing a new deal with Arsenal. That hasn’t stopped the speculation over who will succeed him even though he is clearly going nowhere.

With Leonardo Jardim already responding over the weekend, next up is former Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini.

“I am waiting with serenity, we see what is, and especially if the objectives are mutual,” he said.

“Italy or abroad? If you could choose, all life abroad.

“Arsenal and PSG? In the Premier League I’ve already won, however, we are talking of nothing. Sometimes things happen that you never expect. Leicester? I’ve never had contact.

“I do not hide that I want to be the coach of a team that after a long fight back to win the Scudetto.”

Mancini managed City from 2099 until he was sacked in 2013 despite winning the club their first title since 1968.

His win percentage with the Citizens was the fourth best in Premier League history, falling behind only Jose Mourinho, Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti.

He left Inter Milan in the summer and has not yet accepted a new role.
