On 7 March 2007, Thierry Henry played his last match for Arsenal before he signed for Barcelona.

Obviously, we now know that the Frenchman returned to Arsenal on loan from New York Red Bulls in 2012, but at the time, this was the King’s final match as a Gunner.

The match was against PSV in the Champions League at the Emirates, which Arsenal drew 1-1 after losing the first leg away 1-0. Alex, who was on loan at PSV from Chelsea, scored both goals.

Getting knocked out of the Champions League probably wasn’t the note Henry wanted to leave on.

During his eight years in north London before he joined La Liga, Henry scored 174 goals in 254 games and to this day he’s known as one of the Gunners’ best players of all time. In fact, on Arsenal.com, they’ve still got him ranked as #1 in their top 50.

Henry’s currently assistant manager of the Belgium national team.
