On 3 March 2009, Arsenal kicked off a five-game winning streak against West Brom at the Hawthorns.

The Gunners won the match 3-1 with a brace from Nicklas Bendtner and goal from Kolo Toure.

The win came as a huge relief as, despite being unbeaten in the League for 13 games, the Gunners had drawn five previous matches in a row, with four of those ending 0-0.

Arsenal went on a five-match winning streak, also beating Blackburn (4-0), Newcastle (1-3), Manchester City (2-0) and Wigan (1-4) before drawing 4-4 against Liverpool in a game that saw Andrey Arshavin score four goals.

After this, Arsenal won two more matches against Middlesbrough (2-0) and Portsmouth (0-3) before losing away to Chelsea; the first game the Gunners had lost since November (Manchester City, 3-0) and just one of six losses in the League that season.

Chelsea also knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup in April.

Despite the massive unbeaten streak from November to May, Arsenal still finished fourth in the League behind Chelsea in third, Liverpool in second and Manchester United in first.
