On 10 March 1993, Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in the League Cup on their way to winning the Cup Double.

Arsenal had already beaten Millwall, Derby County, Scarborough and Nottingham Forest before heading into the semi-finals against the Eagles.

The Gunners won the first leg four days prior 3-1 and therefore sailed comfortably through to the final against Sheffield Wednesday 5-1 on aggregate. Andy Linighan and Ian Wright were the goalscorers.

Over 74,000 attended the cup final, which Arsenal won 2-1 with goals from Paul Merson and Steve Morrow.

George Graham’s side also managed to win the FA Cup that season.

Once again, Arsenal faced Sheffield Wednesday in the final. The two teams drew 1-1 and back in those days the tie went to a replay. The replay happened five days later, which the Gunners won 2-1 (again) with goals from Ian Wright (surprise, surprise) and a deflection off Lee Dixon.

Elsewhere, Arsenal came 10th in the Premier League behind Manchester City and ahead of Chelsea.
