Youth goalkeeper Matt Macey is impressing while on loan at Luton Town.

The 22-year-old joined the League Two side in January until the end of the season.

The ‘keeper’s made nine appearances since joining, keeping three clean sheets.

After Macey’s last match for Luton – a 0-0 draw against Carlisle United – Luton Today rated him as one of the best players (7.5), praising his distribution and promising performance.

It’s encouraging to see the shot-stopper not only getting regular minutes under his belt but impressing in front of a new crowd.

Before his loan move, Macey made eight appearances for the Arsenal u23s, less than he has done at Luton so far, and despite being 22 was yet to feature for the first team.

With Petr Cech no longer being the goalkeeper he once was, Wojciech Szczesny’s future up in the air and David Ospina potentially leaving, does this mean there could be a place for Macey closer to the senior squad?
