Lukas Podolski has officially announced that he’ll be joining Japanese side, Vissel Kobe.

The former Gunner signed for Turkish team Galatasaray in 2015 and has gone on to make 44 appearances, scoring 17 League goals, while there. However, now the striker obviously feels it’s time for a change and is joining the J. League at the end of the European season.

He’s 31 now and struggling for game time in the Turkish League, so although Japanese football may not have the money that Chinese football does, at least it’s a change of scenery for him.

This morning (Thursday), Poldi tweeted the news in Turkish, English and Japanese, claiming that it’s nothing against Gala, he just wants a new challenge.

Vissel Kobe were only founded 22 years ago and are currently sixth in the J1 League table after just one game played, so if Poldi wants a challenge, I’m not so sure he’s got one. It’s something different though.

The German is bound to run rampant in their League.

We wish him the best of luck at his new team.
