It was a frustrating Saturday for Arsenal’s players out on-loan as minutes were once again limited across European competition.

ENGLAND

Krystian Bielik was one of only two players who started and completed the full 90 minutes across England. The talented teenage centre-back, who started once again as part of a three-man backline, helped keep their first clean sheet since a 1-0 win over Fulham at the start of February.

His defensive display earned plaudits from supporters and analysts alike, with some of the feedback below:

Chuba Akpom played 16 minutes in Brighton’s 2-0 away defeat against Leeds United. Replacing Sam Baldock, the 21-year-old didn’t have much of an opportunity to create anything of note. This is his 7th Brighton appearance, all of which have been second-half introductions – frustrating to say the least, given the lack of minutes he has had thus far (105).

Creative midfielder Kaylen Hinds made a 25-minute appearance off the substitutes’ bench during Stevenage’s 3-0 home win over Portsmouth.

Goalkeeper Matt Macey started during Luton’s 1-1 draw with Exeter and received some praise as noticeable improvements have been made since the start of his loan spell.

Jack Wilshere played 15 minutes as Bournemouth defeated Swansea 2-0. The midfielder, who is being eased back into things after sustaining a knock against Manchester City, managed to make his presence felt.

His individual match statistics (per WhoScored):

– One shot on target, one key pass
– Pass accuracy of 85.7%, 13 touches and one foul committed

SCOTLAND

Jon Toral started as a holding midfielder and created an assist during Rangers’ comprehensive 4-0 win over Hamilton. Playing alongside Jason Holt protecting the backline, the Spaniard seems to be gradually becoming accustomed to the physical intensity in Scotland and life in a new position. Supporters were keen to discuss his performance post-match on the unofficial forums.

SPAIN

Julio Pleguezuelo was once again not involved, for Mallorca as they lost 2-1 at the hands of Huesca.

GERMANY

Takuma Asano was a second-half substitute as VfB Stuttgart lost 1-0 at the hands of Greuther Fürth. They were already losing when he was introduced and despite his best efforts, they were unable to help the visitors salvage a result.

His individual match statistics (per WhoScored):

– Two shots, both off target
– 77.8% pass accuracy, 20 touches
– Fouled and dispossessed once each, two interceptions

PORTUGAL

Joel Campbell wasn’t involved in Sporting’s matchday squad to face Nacional, during their 2-0 victory. This is reportedly due to his poor attitude during their previous match, where he reacted angrily after a dispute with manager Jorge Jesus and teammate Bas Dost over a missed penalty that he had wanted to take.

NETHERLANDS

Tafari Moore started and completed the full 90 minutes during Utrecht II’s 3-1 win over FC Eindhoven.
