Jens Lehmann remains unconvinced that Arsene Wenger’s rumoured successor, Massimiliano Allegri, would bring anything constructive to Arsenal should the Frenchman leave.

The former Gunner has spoken out in support of Wenger a number of times lately, most recently slamming the fans who orchestrated flying those bloomin’ planes over the Hawthorns when Arsenal played West Brom.

The ex-goalkeeper also believes that replacing Wenger, who’s out of contract in the summer if he doesn’t extend, with Allegri, wouldn’t help at all.

“The people that hold up their banners saying ‘Wenger Out’ don’t hold up banners saying they want x, y, z to come in because this guy will guarantee success,” Lehmann told the S*n.

“Bring Allegri in and we will win everything? Who is Allegri, with all due respect? He is in Italy. Will somebody like him bring success?

“When you look at the type of football he is playing, it doesn’t really fit Arsenal. None of them has a solution, someone who would guarantee them Champions League football and maybe win something.”

Despite Allegri claiming that he’s staying with Juventus, rumours have starting popping up that he could be replacing Luis Enrique once he quits Barcelona at the end of the season. However, other reports claim this is unlikely as Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has shot the reports down. Telling Cadena SER, “It is not true that [Allegri] is coming.”

What’s more is that it’s looking more and more likely that Wenger will in fact extend his Arsenal deal.

Jens will be pleased.
