Lincoln’s keeper, Paul Farman, believes that he has never seen anything quite like the way Arsenal move the ball around but is confident that the defeat won’t derail their season.

Speaking to Lincolnshire Live, the shotstopper who did well at the Emirates despite conceding five, said, “On Monday morning we’ll be watching it back and doing what we have done with all the league games.

“We’ll pick the bones out of it and try and make ourselves better from it.

“Their class showed at the end of the first half and throughout the second. How they moved the ball around, I’ve never seen anything like it. We’ll learn a lot from the game.

“It’s just a shame we couldn’t have gone in level at half-time. The six minutes [of first half stoppage time] went up and I thought to myself, ‘that’s a long time’ because we needed a little bit of a break.

“We saw their line-up before we went out to warm up and then we soon realised the task ahead of us, but we still had to go out there and do a job,” he added.

“I couldn’t stop smiling throughout the game, just to turn around and see that many of our fans behind us – it was unreal.”

It was revealed that after the game, Arsene Wenger spent and hour and a half with Lincoln’s manager, Danny Crowley, who was full of praise for the Arsenal boss, both in his post-match press conference and paper interviews.

It was also revealed that Lincoln cleaned up the away dressing room, even requesting a hoover so they could ensure that it was left in the same state as they had found it. “If it’s good enough for the All Blacks,” Cowley said, “then it’s good enough for us.”
