Arsenal’s Emma Mitchell has picked up a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for around four months.

Mitchell, 24, picked up the injury during the recent Cyprus Cup tournament, which also saw her pass 50 caps for her country against New Zealand.

Scotland finished fifth in the tournament, behind Republic of Ireland, North Korea, South Korea, and the winners, Switzerland.

She had been hoping to be part of the Sottish side that would play at the Euros this summer but that now seems highly unlikely.

Arsenal get their Spring Series under way on 23 April and it finishes on 3 June. Mitchell is ruled out for the whole bridging tournament and will no doubt be targeting a return to fitness for the start of the new season in September.

Mitchell was obviously not included as Arsenal ladies smashed 10 past Tottenham in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
