Arsenal are reportedly yet to open talks with Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, despite the trio only having 18 months left on their current deals.

The Evening Standard has dramatically claimed that Arsenal are “risking an English exodus” since all three could leave.

However, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have the same amount of time on their contracts and it appears that the club has made them their priority for obvious reasons. They better players, bigger stars, need higher wages and, therefore, need more time and effort dedicated to getting them to sign.

Wilshere is currently on loan with Bournemouth and staying fit. If he’s promised regular first team football at Arsenal, it’s unlikely that he would leave. His main aim is to play and stay fit. If that’s what the Gunners can offer him, he has no reason to jump ship.

Gibbs could leave, although with the decline of Nacho Monreal, the left-back is picking up more minutes and could therefore be inclined to stay a little longer in hope that he can stay fit and regain his first team spot permanently.

The Ox’s form also seems to be on the rise since he’s been played more centrally in a role he’s always said he feels more comfortable in and it shows.

Arsenal aren’t rushing to tie the trio down because they have bigger fish to fry and they probably realise they’ll be easier to convince to sign new deals.
