Sporting CP’s president, Bruno Carvalho, has said that he cannot rule out a deal for Joel Campbell even though the player has had a bit of a tough time there on loan this season.

Speaking recently, Campbell said there was no option to buy in his loan agreement and that he would be returning to Arsenal this summer. It’s almost impossible to see him having any role at the club next season – Wenger didn’t want him when he was under less pressure, things are hardly likely to change now.

“Joel is a great player and in football everything is possible, I do not discard it,” Carvalho said.

Sporting vice president, Luis Roque, also chimed in, saying, “We all know the quality of Joel, he has not played much, but when he does it shows that he has great quality, but with respect to whether he can continue or not, we will have to wait.”

If we believe what we read in the papers, Arsenal are set for an ‘unprecedented’ summer of spending. But they can’t buy without selling to make room.

Could this be the summer when Joel finally moves away from Arsenal for good? Who knows. It’s seemed that way for a while now yet here we are, still talking about him.
