Arsenal are reportedly ready to sign Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette in order to replace Alexis Sanchez this summer.

With Alexis looking increasingly likely to leave at the end of the season and Juventus his most probable destination, Arsenal need to start lining up a replacement and, according to the Daily Mail, we’re going to return to Ligue 1 side Lyon for Lacazette.

If the name sounds similar to you then it should considering Arsenal were linked with the striker for pretty much the entirety of last summer and, according to L’Equipe, negotiations were held with the Gunners and West Ham.

In fact, Lyon confirmed a €50m bid from Arsenal in August with rumours that he’d signed a new deal emerging but never coming to fruition.

However, Lacazette appears to have turned down the chance to sign a new contract with the French side with his existing deal taking him up to June 2019. The new deal was reported to have a €70m release clause, which would explain his apprehension considering no one in their right mind would pay that for him.

Lacazette has scored 22 goals in 23 Ligue 1 games this season so there’s no denying he’s a lethal striker. Is he a suitable replacement for Alexis though?
