Paul Merson reckons Arsenal should bring in ‘ruthless’ Ronald Koeman from Everton to replace Arsene Wenger if the Frenchman leaves this summer.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea star believes the Toffees’ boss is the right man to shake the Gunners up and believes Koeman would take the job if offered to him. Well, of course he would.

“Arsenal need someone much more ruthless. Someone like Koeman. He’s got a mean streak and he doesn’t let his players get away with anything,” Merson said in his column for the Daily Star.

“I think he’d be a good fit and would take the job if they offered it to him.”

Koeman isn’t doing too badly at Everton. They’re currently seventh in the Premier League having lost just one of their last five matches. However, the Toffees are out of all other competitions and therefore have the time to concentrate on the League.

Arsenal are at a different level and if the club do manage to clinch a top four finish this season, the next manager would ideally need far more European experience.

The Dutchman is a good fit at Everton but what could he really bring to Arsenal?
