Chuba Akpom is set to return to the Brighton squad for the Championship game against Derby on Friday night after a minor injury problem.

The forward missed out on Brighton’s defeat at Nottingham Forest and the win against Rotherham due to the problem. Thankfully, it has turned out to be a minor issue as expected and not an ‘Arsenal’ issue due to his DNA.

The 21-year-old already missed 101 days of this season with a back injury before leaving on loan.

Akpom returned to training on Thursday morning and is likely to take up his place on the bench for the game against a Derby side 22 points behind them in tenth place. “Chuba will certainly be in the 20 to 21 man squad,” manager Chris Hughton told reporters.

He has played just 89 minutes since making the loan switch in January – six more than he played for Arsenal in one EFL Cup match.
