Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he has no intention of recalling Jack Wilshere from Bournemouth despite the midfield crisis at the club.

The boss confirmed at his pre-Chelsea press conference that Aaron Ramsey will miss the next three weeks with a calf strain. This is in addition to Mohamed Elneny who is on international duty (and sort-of injured himself anyway), Granit Xhaka who is still suspended and Santi Cazorla whose leg has fallen off.

Asked if he would consider recalling Jack, who is shining at the Cherries, Wenger said, “No, I think we have agreed for him to go one year on loan and we accept that.”

He was then asked if he would like to have him back. “Well, yes, but when you consider the problem of the year, I would like to reiterate, we didn’t push him out,” Wenger added.

“He wanted to go somewhere and play. He wanted to go.

“He saw the level of the competitive players we have in midfield.

“Let’s not forget, we have Xhaka suspended, there’s a huge level of competition.

“I agreed to let him go and have to accept the consequences of that.”
