Theo Walcott is the third most loyal Player in the Premier League having been at Arsenal for 11 years.

This stat makes me so sad.

According to the latest data released by the CIES Football Observatory, only Chelsea’s John Terry and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney have been at their clubs longer (18.5 and 12.5 years respectively).

When it comes to Europe’s top five leagues, an additional 12 players are ahead of Walcott, making him the 13th most loyal player in Europe.

Madness.

The stats are worked out using the number of consecutive years in the first team and based only on players who have played in their domestic league this season.

Premier League:

  • John Terry (Chelsea) 18.5 years
  • Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) 12.5
  • Theo Walcott (Arsenal) 11
  • Leighton Baines (Everton) 9.5
  • Phil Jagielka (Everton) 9.5
  • Andy King (Leicester) .5
  • Lucas Leiva (Liverpool) 9.5
  • Ryan Shawcross (Mordor City) 9.5
  • Angel Rangel (Swnasea City) 9.5
  • James Morisson (West Brom) 9.5
  • Chris Brunt (West Brom) 9.5

The longest serving Tottenham players comes in at 5.5 years (Kyle Walker).

The most loyal player across Europe is, of course, Francesco Totti, with 24 years at Roma. Second place is held by John Terry.

Third place goes to both Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) and Nicolas Seube (Caen) who have both been with their respective clubs for 15.5 years.

The average ‘loyalty years’ sees the Premier League (8.5) just miss out on top spot to the Bundesliga (8.6).
