Emile Smith-Rowe bagged a brace as Arsenal ran out 3-0 winners over West Ham on Saturday morning.

The game took place at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground with Robbie Burton, a first-year scholar, also getting on the scoresheet.

Although Arsenal took the lead in the first half after 36 minutes, thanks to some great work by Yassin Fortune, they didn’t make the game safe until the 87th minute when Burton, on as a substitute, scored his first of the season.

Smith-Rowe grabbed his second in the closing moments of the game.

Arsenal did not have the game all their own way, however. West Ham pressed hard in the second half as they chased an equaliser and Arsenal’s second and third came somewhat against the run of play.

At the end, the scoreline was perhaps an unfair reflection on West Ham, but Arsenal won’t care. The win takes them third with a game in hand.

Smith-Rowe’s former teacher was clearly pleased with what his former student had produced as he tweeted:

It didn’t go unnoticed by the player
