Aaron Ramsey has backed Arsene Wenger, saying that the players have let him down at times.

With all the pressure on Wenger as we wait to hear what he’s decided to do about the new Arsenal contract  hat is waiting for him, Ramsey was quick to make sure the blame went in the right direction.

“Obviously we are deeply disappointed with the results that we had,” said Ramsey. “It’s not nice suffering a defeat like that [in Munich] so obviously the team is going to be disappointed and suffering a bit after that. But it’s important, we’re professional footballers and it’s important how we respond, how we bounce back.

“We play every three, five days, so we can’t let that affect us and hopefully put things right against Liverpool

“He’s [Wenger] been a great servant to Arsenal and a great manager to me personally and for the players.

“We have let him down at times. I think it’s unfair some of the things that have been said but people are entitled to their opinion but he has been great for me personally.”

The argument could be made that the problem rests with the whole club – players, management and board. The players have indeed let Wenger down on occasion but he is far from blameless himself, nor is the board that seems happy to just sit on their hands.

Ramsey has returned to training from the calf injury that he picked up against Watford at the end of January. He could be in line for a role at Anfield where Liverpool will likely be without Jordan Henderson.
