On this day in 2011, Leyton Orient managed to force a replay against Arsenal after drawing 1-1 at Brisbane Road.

Tomas Rosicky scored in the 53rd minute to put Arsenal 1-0 up and that should have been it. However, an equaliser from Jonathan Tehoue forced the clash to a replay at the Emirates.

It wasn’t a good month, seeing at seven days after the draw against Orient, Arsenal famously lost the League Cup final at Wembley against Birmingham City (2-1).

Fortunately, in March, Arsenal smashed the replay against Orient, winning 5-0 with goals from Marouane Chamakh, Gael Clichy, and a hat-trick from Nicklas Bendtner.

Annoyingly, Arsenal were knocked out in the next round after drawing Manchester United and losing 2-0 at Old Trafford, adding insult to injury since we’d also just got dumped out of the Champions League by Barcelona (3-1 agg.).

Arsenal finished fourth that season after a string of bad results at the end. They lost to Bolton, Stoke and Aston Villa, and drew against Fulham on the final day. In fact, the only games the Gunners managed to win during their final 11 games were against Blackpool and, oddly, Manchester United.
