Shkodran Mustafi’s dream start to life in the Premier League came to a crashing halt with back-to-back defeats by Watford and Chelsea, but the German is still hoping Arsenal can win the title this season.

It seems unlikely, especially given the mental fragility that the side have shown this season. But I guess weirder things have happened. Just usually not to Arsenal.

“I think it’s going to be more difficult than it was before but I’m a believer,” he told Sky Sports.

“I don’t give up.

“As long as it’s possible we’re going to fight for it, and in the end we will see and if we’re lucky enough and good enough to go for it or not.

“The first game we lost at home [to Watford] was really disappointing. We woke up a bit late, conceded two quick goals and it was difficult to come back.

“We were disappointed as well with losing at Chelsea, which was a completely different game.

“We knew it would be difficult at Stamford Bridge, but we knew as well it’s possible to win. I think in the end we didn’t do enough.”

Arsenal face Hull who are entering game four of their ‘death run’. Consecutive league games against Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have seen Marco Silva’s men really find themselves and they will be hoping to build on their result against Liverpool last weekend.

They will know that Arsenal are fragile at present (always?) and should be targeting a quick start to shake the Gunners a little more.

Don’t put it past them achieving it.
