Alexis Sanchez has been granted leave by Arsenal and has gone to Italy for a short break with his friend following the Gunners’ 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich.

The Chilean has been linked with a move to Juventus and AC Milan, given the fact that he now has under 18 months left on his Arsenal contract and the Serie A giants are reportedly keen. However, apparently his friend – his travel companion – is Italian, which is why they’ve chosen that destination.

Clubs allowing their players to have a couple of days to rest and de-stress both mentally and physically is nothing unusual. It’s been a busy period and we’d rather they have a couple of days away if it reduces the risk of injury. Especially as Arsenal face Sutton United in the FA Cup at the weekend and, therefore, Alexis would be rested anyway.

Hopefully a couple of days away will recharge the forward’s batteries. If we’re stressed out just watching Arsenal, imagine how the players feel.
