Takuma Asano impressed as VfB Stuttgart prevailed, whilst Kelechi Nwakali started and others featured for their respective sides away from north London.

Chuba Akpom came on as a second-half substitute during Brighton’s 3-3 draw with Brentford on Sunday afternoon. He didn’t have ample time to make a significant impact and will be hoping for more minutes in the weeks to come.

SPAIN

Julio Pleguezuelo was once again an unused substitute during Mallorca’s 2-1 away defeat at the hands of Real Oviedo. The talented fullback continues to be wasted on the bench and with a lack of first-team minutes, his development is stagnating.

GERMANY

Takuma Asano started and completed the full 90 minutes during Stuttgart’s 2-0 win over Düsseldorf. It was a frenetic affair in the opening exchanges and the Japanese international could’ve netted himself a hat-trick but was denied by excellent reaction saves from goalkeeper Michael Rensing.

A constant livewire in the final third and a nuisance for the visitors to deal with, his high workrate was clear and this had a positive influence on the team as a collective unit. Embraced by his teammates at the final whistle, he performed well and with displays like this, it’s only a matter of time before he adds to his goal tally for the campaign.

NETHERLANDS

Kelechi Nwakali (MVV Maastricht) and Tafari Moore (Utrecht II) featured for their respective sides, with winning results. The latter came on as a second-half substitute for Zakaria Labyad in a defensive change, whilst Nwakali started and completed the full 90 – but was booked late on.

Stefan O’Connor was not included in MVV’s matchday squad, Aaron Eyoma (Volendam) is still settling into his new surroundings and presumably hasn’t been risked whilst Gedion Zelalem was an unused substitute during VVV-Venlo’s defeat against PSV.
