A report in Bild today (Monday) is claiming that Arsenal’s Head of Youth Development, Andries Jonker, has left Arsenal to take up the recently-vacant managerial position at his former club, Wolfsburg.

He is expected to be unveiled as their new manager at some point today.

Jonker, 54, will become the German side’s third manager this season. He was an assistant manager from 2009 – 2011 alongside Louis van Gaal. He also spent two years at Wolfsburg as assistant manager before leaving for Arsenal to replace Liam Brady.

Given the uncertainty around so much at Arsenal as we approach the summer, it’s not clear how Arsenal will handle this. Wolfsburg only sacked their manager at the weekend so it’s also unclear how much notice Arsenal would have had.

Wolfsburg have reportedly bought out his contract at Arsenal.
