Alex Iwobi has admitted that he never predicted that he would be where he is at Arsenal at the tender age of 20.

The forward has already made 20 appearances in the Premier League this season after breaking into the senior squad last year.

He’s scored three and assisted four and while he claims he wants to work on these, I’d say he’s not doing too badly.

He’s yet to convince me against bigger teams, like Chelsea, but this is mainly down to his inexperience and I’m sure he’ll get there.

Iwobi’s now made over 50 appearances for the first team, a number the youngster never thought he would reach.

“I never thought I would be here at the age of 20, it’s an amazing feeling to have made more than 50 appearances for Arsenal,” Iwobi said to Arsenal Player. “It is just the start of my career basically, so I just need to get more goals, more assists and make more appearances and do my best for the team.”

Although Iwobi’s senior career hasn’t always been consistent, I’m confident that with time he’ll continue to get better and better. Against Watford, for example, he was one of our only bright sparks and scored our consolation goal. If Lucas Perez hasn’t been brought on so early, perhaps Iwobi could have helped us grab a draw, which, for a 20-year-old, is really something.
