L’Equipe Magazine have published their annual sports salaries review and Cristiano Ronaldo still leads the way.

As L’Equipe is a French publication, they focus on sportspeople from their homeland.

The highest-paid French sportsman is Tony Parker, who plays basketball for the San Antonia Spurs. He earns €19.6m-per-year.

The runner-up is Manchester United’s playmaker, Paul Pogba, who moves up six places with his annual earnings of €18m since his move to England.

The world-record transfer fee player more than doubled his wages from €670,000 to €1,500,000m per month with the move. He also has a 10-year Adidas contract estimated to be worth €40m over ten years.

In third place is Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema on €15.6m. His wages are estimated at €11m plus €1m in team bonuses and around €3m from Adidas.

Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud dropped two places in the rankings and is now outside the top 10 in 11th position with an annual income estimated at €8.3m. His team-mate, Laurent Koscielny, is ranked in 32nd place on €5.7m per year.

Arsenal’s forgotten man, Matthieu Debuchy, is ranked 47th, dropping 18 places from last year with an income of €4.5m, down €1.1m.

In terms of world ranking, the number one is Cristiano Ronaldo on €77.2m, followed by Lionel Messi on €71.41m. In third place is Lebron James who plays basketball in the NBA for the Cleveland Cavaliers and who earns €67.73m per year.
