Former Arsenal youngster, Anthony Stokes, was handed a two-year suspended sentence this week for headbutting an Elvis Impersonator on a night out in Dublin.

According to reports in the Irish press, Stokes, who was at Arsenal for four years from 2003, had already admitted to assaulting Anthony Bradley at Buck Whaley’s nightclub in June, 2013.

Pleading guilty to assault causing harm, the player offered to pay €300,000 as an ‘expression of remorse’ and the judge found this acceptable.

The Republic of Ireland international, 28, is currently contracted to Blackburn Rovers after signing a three-year deal in the summer. He has made just seven Championship appearances so far this season.
