Watford striker, Troy Deeney, reckons that Aaron Ramsey ‘bottled it’ when Younès Kaboul scored the Hornet’s first goal at the Emirates.

Speaking recently, Deeney criticised Rambo for turning his back on the strike, which went into the net off him, and admitted that if he’d done that, his manager would have dug into him.

“I think he bottled it a little bit,” Deeney said, report the London Evening Standard.

“Ramsey’s mistake was our blessing.

“I have come up with Sean Dyche and Malky MacKay and if we had turned our back on the ball like that, they would have had strong words with us.”

Ramsey went on to pick up a calf strain, which saw him substituted in the 20th minute and means he faced three weeks on the sidelines. However, until that point, he hadn’t exactly been a beacon of hope.

The Wales international has shown moments of brilliance but has been mostly underwhelming this season and while this could be partially attributed to the fact he’s now picked up three injuries since that opening loss against Liverpool, it’s still rather concerning.

The 26-year-old has under 18 months left on his Arsenal contract and there’s not been much word one way or another on whether he’ll be staying in north London.

If it’s up to Wenger, I think the midfielder will be offered an extension. But we don’t know if Wenger will be staying.
