Petr Cech’s agent, Viktor Kolar, has confirmed that the goalkeeper will stay at Arsenal until at least the end of his current contract in 2019.

This comes as no surprise to Arsenal fans who would have expected Cech to arrive, play for a few seasons and then work more in the background as back-up as he aged.

But, after a relatively poor season by his standards, the media hype-wagon is gearing up and suggesting that he could be on his way from the club.

Not at all.

“Petr’s position at the club is secure and a summer transfer can be ruled out,” Kolar said in a statement.

“Petr will be part of Arsenal until at least the end of his current contract.”

It’s unclear what Arsenal are planning to do for next season, but they could do a hell of a lot worse than bring in a great 26-year-old international keeper who is currently shining in Serie A with Roma.

The best bit? He wouldn’t cost Arsenal a penny despite being worth around £14m.
