Lincoln City fans are gearing up for their trip to the Emirates, warming up early with chants of ‘Arsene Wenger, we’re coming for you’.

The non-league side were drawn against Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter final and they will be hopeful of doing to Arsenal what they did to Burnley, Brighton and Ipswich.

The fans sang their song during their latest win, this time over Boreham Wood in the quarter final of the FA Trophy, as they continue their incredible season under the charge of Danny Cowley.

It is Cowley’s meticulous planning that is credited with getting them this far and Arsenal would be well warned not to take this game lightly. They have many flaws and Cowley is making a speciality of finding the cracks in bigger sides and exploiting them mercilessly.

Cowley gave up a career as a teacher and part-time manager at Braintree Town to take the chance on full-time management just nine months ago.

Lincoln will be tested to the limit over the next six weeks, however, as they face matches games on Saturday and Tuesday.

For the game against Arsenal at the Emirates, Lincoln have been allocated 8,942 tickets. Their own ground, Sincil Bank, currently holds 10,312.

“We’re absolutely delighted, it’s what we asked for,” said managing director Kevin Cooke.

“Arsenal have been really good to us and said we can have the full allocation.

“So there’ll be 9,000 of us and 51,000 Arsenal fans.”

“It’s perfect for us,” added Cowley. “Because of the fact we’ve got so many games, we really wanted it to be on a Saturday as we’re expecting to have a game the following Tuesday.

“It means we’ll have almost 72 hours recovery which will be beneficial. If it had been on a Sunday, it would have put a greater load on the players.

“Prior to the draw we either wanted a home game so we can get 9,000 Lincoln supporters into Sincil Bank, or one of the clubs which has a big capacity which allows us to take a big away support. So I’m delighted for the fans.”
