Arsenal are reportedly willing to pay up to £8.5m for Maccabi Tel Aviv’s keeper, Predrag Rajkovic, a Bosnian international.

With Pert Cech looking like his time as Arsenal’s number one is coming to a close, the papers are already full of players we will be trying to buy.

All of them, of course, forget that we have Wojciech Szczesny on loan at Roma. A keeper worth around £12m, Woj has grown into something resembling the one we all expected him to be. If we didn’t already own him, people would be peeing themselves at the prospect of signing him. He’d most likely cost a lot more than £12m, too.

Anyway, Arsenal have allegedly sent representatives and told Rajkovic’s Israeli club the price they are willing to part with – £6.8m up front and then the rest in add-ons.

The reports also claim that Arsenal would loan him out after they sign him so perhaps Woj is an irrelevance here.

‘Three or four’ English clubs are said to be interested in signing him which isn’t really a surprise.

He has 5 cleansheets in 11 league games this season.

For the record, Woj has 10 in 23 Serie A games. Petr Cech? 7 in 24…
