Arsenal have reportedly been scouting Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne, watching him score and assist against Chievo this weekend.

According to Italian journalist, Nicholas Schira, Arsenal are ‘serious for Insigne’ however Napoli are doing all they can to try and get him to  sign a new deal. His current deal expires in 2019 with the Italians offering him €3.2m per year and the player allegedly wanting €5m.

Insigne, 25, has eight goals and six assists in 24 Serie A appearances this season from the left wing. Overall, he has nine goals and eight assists.

This isn’t the first time Arsenal have been linked with Insigne, far from it. Back in 2015 when he was being linked with a move away, his agent said that the player would stay at Napoli for life.

“Lorenzo’s will is to stay at Napoli for life,” his agent said“But of course it takes two to share a relationship like that.

“There are no problems, unless the club decides to terminate the relationship. But for now there are no problems.”

Napoli seem to be in no mood to end the relationship. If this sentiment still stands for a player who has been in Naples for five years, it’s unlikely anything involving Arsenal will happen this summer.
