Arsenal held negotiations with Lyon over the transfer of Alexandre Lacazette last summer according to a report in L’Equipe which also states the player wants to move in the next window.

The striker recently gave an interview with Canal in which he said that this summer it was time for him to move.

“I think this summer will be the moment to change and discover new things,” he said. “Always with the idea to move forward and improve on the football and human side.

“I am going to carry on working hoping for good opportunities to come around.

Arsenal, as you know, have been heavily linked with the player for a few years now and L’Equipe state, “Atlético de Madrid, West Ham, Paris-SG and Arsenal had even started discussions with OL.”

Under contract until 2019, he currently earns around €53k per week– the largest salary at the club. Lyon wanted to get him to sign a new deal so they could insert a €70m release clause, however the player’s entourage reportedly refused according to the report above. They believed this was too high for the player and would restrict his ability to move.

Lacazette has 21 goals and two assists in 24 appearances this season. In Ligue 1, he has 18 goals and one assist in 17 appearances.

He is worth around £34m. How much he will go for, however, is anyone’s guess.
