Arsenal have reportedly approached the ‘entourage’ of Monaco’s Tiemoué Bakayoko to tell the player they want him at the Emirates.

Bakayoko, 22, is a defensive midfielder with another two-years left on his current deal in France. He has been linked with admirers at City and Chelsea  with L’Equipe placing a €40m-€45m price tag on him. He has already turned down a new deal at Monaco, currently earning €25k per week.

Despite the link, it’s hard to see where Arsenal would fit Bakayoko in unless they were planning on shipping a player out. He wouldn’t be a replacement for the perma-crock, Santi Cazorla. One could hope he has been targeted to replace Francis Coquelin, but he’s just signed a new deal and Wenger seems to rate him.

The rumour also seems to have started in Le10Sport which is far from the most reliable of publications.
