Juventus’ manager Massimiliano Allegri has been heavily linked with the Arsenal job recently. but his recent comments have quashed talk of a Premier League move in the near future.

The 49-year-old joined Juventus in 2014 and has an existing contract which expires at the end of next season. Having led them to the Champions League final in his first season, he was unsurprisingly one of Arsenal’s reported targets to replace Arsène Wenger when the boss does eventually depart.

Having managed in Italy since ending his professional career in 2003, plenty suggested he’d be open to a move to England. These developments intensified further when he refused to confirm or deny suggestions he’d been approached by interested sides.

However, ahead of their fixture with Cagliari on Saturday, he addressed questions about his future. According to the Associated Press, he said, “I’m fine here, I’ve still got a year-and-a-half left on my contract and when the time comes I will sit down with the club to speak about the future and put together a schedule.

I hope to take charge of another 300 or 400 games as Juventus coach.

“I’m happy here and as I’ve always said, if something is not going well then the club will be the first to hear about it,” Allegri continued.

Looking forward

It’s unsurprising to hear he is settled at Juve considering the fact that the team are enjoying plenty of success. Having won back-to-back Serie A titles since he took over, the transition from Antonio Conte has been a lot smoother than many would’ve imagined.

Some Arsenal supporters have voiced their interest in having someone like Allegri as the new boss when Wenger leaves. He’s unafraid to change tactically and adapted his managerial style to new surroundings.

Unfortunately though, he’ll be staying in Italy for the foreseeable future.
