Gedion Zelalem is on the verge of joining VVV Venlo on loan after undergoing a medical with the Dutch side and receiving Arsene Wenger’s approval.

The pair were said to have watched the Eerste Divisie side at the weekend before Wenger gave his blessing.

Visiting VVV Venlo’s training ground on Monday, the deal is already agreed between the clubs according to a report in De Telegraaf.

As we suspected, an extension to his current deal, which expires this summer, will be forthcoming in a similar way to how we extended Joel Campbell’s contract before shipping him off on loan and forgetting all about him.

This would make sense. Having invested time and money in the player, it was always highly unlikely that they would let him leave for free this summer.
