Arsene Wenger told reporters after the game that Burnley’s Ashley Barnes should have been sent off for kicking Laurent Koscielny’s face.

Instead, Jon Moss, who had allowed Burnley the freedom of the Emirates all game, was shown a yellow.

Wenger was watching the game on TV after being sent of himself and told reporters that “it was a penalty and a red card”.

Earlier, Xhaka had been given his marching orders for a poor tackle. It was a tackle we often see punished incorrectly with yellows (or nothing if you’re called Rojo and make it an even worse tackle) and that’s where the frustrayion lies.

But Wenger was in no doubt that Xhaka needs to do something about his discipline which should be an interesting conversation as the midfielder has already said he won’t change. “The noises I get are that Xhaka’s was a red card. He has to control  his game,” Wenger said.

Xhaka can think about that while he sits on the sidelines for the next four games.
