Alexis Sanchez put in an almost complete performance against Crystal Palace – all that was missing was the goal that eluded him.

With Arsene Wenger starting Olivier Giroud up front again, Alexis was back to his old winger position and did not disappoint.

He combined superbly on the left side with Monreal, and managed to give Giroud a poor cross that became an assist for a wonderful goal. His work rate was excellent as ever, up and down the touchline.

All was missing was a goal and you could see him becoming more and more frustrated as the game was going by. He was seen berating his team-mates after a counter-attack as the ball never came to him while he was in a good position to score that elusive goal.

He had five shots blocked, two shots saved and two shots off target and was certainly unlucky not to get the goal his performance deserved.

Let’s hope he will not run out of steam soon as squad rotation does not seem to apply to him.

The main worry with him is that tiredness will lead to below par performances or even injuries. With games coming thick and fast, Arsene Wenger will have to make a decision soon and rest the Chilean, whether he wants to be rested or not.

With Wellbeck coming back from injury and Giroud in superb form, Alexis must be given a deserved rest at one point soon.
