Aad de Mos believes that PSV’s Gastón Pereiro would be a ‘good reinforcement’ for Arsenal because of the way they play.

With seven goals and three assists this season in 18 games, the 21-year-old is already being linked with a move away from the Dutch side he signed for in 2015. Under contract until 2020, Aad de Mos, who managed PSV between 1993 and 1994, said this about the player [via Google translate, so, you know…]: “He can only take real steps to PSV when he gets unconditional trust and feels real. That phase should now be over.

“The club has a shortage of attackers and nobody grabs it by the neck. He plays and other attackers are not a threat to him.”

“He’s the type of player that it used to making the difference on the ball and takes naturally little satisfaction to think along with loss of possession. This taught to him, it is in his homeland in the training. It’s a different way of playing football, with very strong midfielders and defenders.

“In a team that plays very dominant, he would be better, and I think he could even be a good reinforcement for Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

“PSV still plays frequently with the handbrake on and will until it truly goes. How much fun that can be, we saw Sunday.”

PSV won 4-3 on Sunday against Heerenveen.

Aad de Mos is currently without a club. He has previously managed Ajax, Anderlecht, Werder Bremen, Standard Liege, Sporting Gijon, and Vitesse while also serving as technical adviser at Ado Den Haag (amongst many other managerial positions).

Players managed include Cruyff, Van Basten, Koeman brothers, Rijkaard, Nilis, Andrei Kanchelskis, Mark Wilmots, Duplan, Strootman, Theo Janssen, Danko Lazović, Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Stojković, and Ronaldo.
